The Young Adult Leadership Taskforce (YALT) of the Christian Reformed Church in North America (CRCNA) kicks off a monthly web-based feature called YALT Hangouts this Wednesday, September 19 from 9-11PM EST. YALT Hangouts feature new technology from Google that will enable well-known leaders from around the CRC to have open question and answer sessions with young adults and young adult influencers about the local church, young adults and the future of the CRC. YALT Hangouts will make use of Google+'s Hangout online webchat software, live streaming on YouTube and recorded YouTube videos for playback later. Additionally, they'll make use of Twitter hashtags to feed questions to the featured leader.
The featured leader for the September YALT Hangout will be John Van Sloten, pastor of New Hope Church in Calgary, AB and author of "The Day Metallica Came to Church", available from Faith Alive Resources. Also scheduled for upcoming months are Chris Mitchell on October 17 and Brian Bosscher on November 14. Chris Mitchell is the pastor of New England Chapel in Franklin, MA and was also a featured speaker at this summer's re:kindle conference in conjunction with Synod 2012. Brian Bosscher is the former director of Youth Unlimited and is currently a pastor at Hillcrest CRC in Hudsonville, MI.
The first ten guests to Wednesday's YALT Hangout will be able to access the Hangout directly on Google+, while additional guests can view the live stream on YouTube and ask questions using the Twitter hashtag #yalthangout. For details, access information and questions, you can find YALT online at www.crcna.org/yalt or www.facebook.com/weareyalt.
