Fall is a great time for a missions emphasis event. Many churches include a focus on missions early in the church year including missions speakers/preachers, flags, videos about missions, a litany, bulletin covers/inserts and children's bulletins in their missions celebration. It can also be a great time to try out some new technology by having a Skype conversation with a missionary during a worship service. September 21 has been set aside for a Christian Reformed World Missions offering, October 26 for Home Missions, and November 16 for Back to God Ministries International. Every CRC congregation will receive a mailing in mid-September with a variety of resources designed to help your congregation celebrate and recommit to global missions. The 2014 World Hunger Campaign from World Renew reminds us that food is a great gift from God. Global farmers have much to teach us about being aware of God’s goodness and praising Him for the rain, sun, soil, seeds, and tools that make each day’s food possible.
Your church can also help to fight world hunger through an offering that supports World Renew’s food security programs. The campaign components include a daily devotional booklet, a DVD, bulletin inserts and covers, Peter Fish banks, a complete leader’s guide, poster, and other materials. Additionally, World Hunger Sunday is November 2. You can read more about the World Hunger Campaign by clicking here.
