During the past generation, youth ministry has received a great deal of attention in the North American church. Ironically, as this ministry matures, leaders are recognizing more and more that the Scriptures do not encourage age-segregated ministry, but rather describe four-generation communities that grow in faith together. Age-segregated ministry has more to do with cultural influences than Scriptural foundations. Might there be a connection between the young adult exodus from the church and a lack of biblical foundations for ministry? This webinar will build on intergenerational biblical foundations and provide a wide variety of ideas and resources for strengthening the interaction between the generations in our congregations.

Our presenter:  Dr. Syd Hielema serves as chaplain and professor of youth ministry at Redeemer University College in Ancaster, ON. He is also a member of the CRC Faith Formation Committee, and director of that committee's Congregational Faith Formation Project. He handles the faith formation questions on the Banner's Q and A page, and has been involved in congregational ministry that focuses on children and teens for more than forty years. The passion that animates him is a vision of congregations in which God's children of all ages bless each other to be a blessing in their local communities.
