All-Site Director of Communications at Madison Church (Grand Rapids, MI)

Primary Purpose: To enhance effective use of communications and technology across all sites of Madison Church in order to equip the church to minister effectively to those both inside and outside of the church.

Responsibilities:

  1. Leads in the creation of overall communications and brand strategy for Madison Church, effectively presenting the vision, mission, and values of all sites and supporting the effective implementation of ministries.

  2. Works with staff at all sites to streamline content and communications in adherence to multi-site brand standards and strategy.

  3. Assists ministries by creating various content including but not limited to content for: website, social media, videos, newsletters, brochures, announcements, bulletins, posters, neighborhood advertising, and local news media.

  4. When needed, recruits and oversees contracted employees or volunteers in the areas of graphic design, website development, technology support, videography, photography, systems administration, and others as necessary.

  5. Regularly deepens his/her own understanding of institutional and systemic racism to effectively communicate Madison Church’s values.

  6. Works closely with leadership at all sites to hear and support vision through effective communication.

Skills: 

Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field preferred

Strong, narrative writing ability across a range of media

Strong intercultural and interpersonal communication skills

Experience in management and administration

Ability to build consensus among diverse stakeholders, facilitate feedback, develop clear processes, and hold the line when necessary.

Attention to detail and advanced organizational skills

Adept at scheduling, multi-tasking, and time management

Demonstrated ability to use social media channels effectively to deliver content

The ability to report on and communicate project status, initiatives, and standards to large audiences.

Ability to assess and make recommendations for software tools to aid in communication

Strong editorial and graphic design skills, or the ability to facilitate the creative development process through the supervision of subcontractors.

Effective use of marketing plans and creative briefs, including the creation of goal-oriented strategies, objectives, and tactics     

Keen visual sense and ability to tell stories using words, images, and sound

Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously and successfully
