JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Director of Youth Ministry
HOURS: Approximately 40 per week
SALARY/BENEFITS: Per Annual Budget
DEPARTMENT/COMMITTEE: Youth Ministry
REPORTS TO: Personnel Committee
DIRECT/INDIRECT REPORTS: None
PARTNERS WITH: Senior Pastor, Youth Ministry Committee, Lay Leaders and Teachers
POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide oversight, manage and coordinate the youth ministry of 6th grade through post-high school students under the guidance of the Youth Ministry committee. Develop and maintain age appropriate biblical based curriculum, studies, worship and hands on mission opportunities to foster a Christian worldview for each age group. Main youth ministry areas include Sunday school, youth groups, worship, and mission opportunities.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Personal:
 A believer in and a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ, and a member in good standing of a fellowship of believers.
Personnel Committee:
 Annual self-assessment, job description review and performance review
Youth Ministry Committee:
 Provide monthly status report and needs assessment to Youth Ministry team
 Partner with Senior Pastor, Lay Leaders and Teachers for sharing of ideas
 Attend Youth Ministry meetings and consistory meetings (non-voting member of consistory)
Oversight/Management/Coordination:
 Provide guidance and training to lay leaders and teachers in teaching and presenting curriculum
 Establish annual budget with Youth Ministry committee, manage annual budget, and purchase items as needed
 Establish office hours and maintain a personal weekly schedule
 Establish annual calendar and maintain schedules for Sunday school, youth group, worship, and mission activities (retreats, mission trips, special activities, etc.)
 Assess and monitor student development through attendance, involvement, etc.
Development/Worship/Teaching Methods:
 Develop age appropriate biblical based curriculum, studies, worship, and mission opportunities
 Develop relationships with each age group and provide individual mentoring as needed
 Foster Christian worldview in all worship, teaching, mentoring, and ministry activities
 Maintain daily connection with students and leaders using social media

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree

  • Continued education, coursework and/or training in youth ministry is preferred

Job Experience: 3-5 years

  • Background check is required
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required
  • Computer system knowledge is required
  • Social media knowledge is preferred

PHYSICAL AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Limited lifting required. Minimal to moderate travel required dependent on mentoring and mission activities.
