Pastor of Faith Formation and Discipleship at Hope CRC in Brantford, ON


Hope Christian Reformed Church in Brantford, ON, is looking for a Pastor of Faith Formation and Discipleship. The Pastor of Faith Formation and Discipleship will have the following skills and duties, in addition to the common duties and skills for all Pastors.

  • Love for Christ, mature personal faith, well-grounded knowledge of Christian scripture and theology and a passion for discipleship.
  • Typically has 0-7 years of pastoral experience and will be compensated accordingly/commensurate with experience.
  • Strong skills for organization, long-term planning and self-direction are necessary.
  • Must be able to work well with the current Pastors and church leaders.
  • Give direction, find and develop curriculum and provide leadership for all children, youth and young adults.
  • Partner with and support parents to disciple their children.
  • Facilitate inter-generational small groups and/or related activities encompassing all church members.
  • Promote and provide educational resources and materials that are current, relevant, readily available and easy to access in support of faith development.
  • Encourage, support and equip volunteers involved in the planning and leading of the various ministries and educational programs.
  • Identify and oversee leadership development training programs, ministries, resources and materials.
  • Provide clear and effective communication with families and congregation.
  • Work closely and collaborate with all ministry heads to identify appropriate faith development and leadership needs, training programs and materials.
  • Responsible for approximately 25-30% of the preaching opportunities at Hope CRC.
  • Communicate ministry progress, needs and concerns as matters for prayer.
  • Report to Council at every council meeting, to attend Consistory and to attend Council Executive in place of the Senior Pastor when the Senior Pastor is unavailable.
  • Coordinate with the worship team and Senior Pastor to encourage participation in worship services.
  • Take particular responsibility to oversee and coordinate active ministry programs appropriate for the spiritual growth and development of youth and young adults.
  • Participate, in cooperation with the Senior Pastor, in the provision of Profession of Faith classes and Pre-Marriage classes.
  • Participate, alongside the Senior Pastor, in addressing the pastoral care needs of the congregation.
  • Assist in the assessment of current ministry needs and develop a strategic plan for leadership development.
  • Participate in developing a Ministry Coordinator role to complement the strategic plan.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
