I watched the videos about Mental Illness and the Church until the wee hours last night and only stopped because my computer was making a weird noise. Then I emailed a link to the fourth video to my minister, the members of Council whose email addresses I had and to some friends as well. I think that since our congregation is already sensitized to this issue setting up a support group for people with mental illnesses and their families would be pertinent ministry for us. We're a shrinking congregation though nowhere near having to consider closing our doors for good, but we do have to address the issue of our relevance and probably having to sell our building to get a smaller one. We have a day center for people with mental illnesses that has a residence on top of it with subsidized housing that includes 3 one-bedroom apartments and 18 studios for our clientèle. I sit on the boards of directors of both organizations, the Résidence Bienvenue being independent from the Centre Bienvenue. And this morning I was wondering if becoming a peer counselor or adviser might not be something I could do. Some of the recent issues of SZMAGAZINE were discussing that topic, but I still need to refresh my mind about it.

Anyway. Very good videos.
