Everyday Family Faith: Fresh Ideas for Family Faith Formation

Faith Formation Ministries is excited to introduce Everyday Family Faith: Simple Practices and Activities for Building Faith at Home. It’s a pocket-sized but powerful resource for parents who want to weave faith into everyday family life in simple, natural ways.

If you haven’t seen Everyday Family Faith yet, here’s a quick tour. Inside you’ll find a tabbed section for each day of the week. In each day’s tab you’ll find five Bible verses, five faith talk questions, a family prayer, and five easy faith-building activity options. You choose whatever you want to focus on that day.

So, for example, one of  your Monday choices could look like this:

• Bible verse: “Be strong and courageous...for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Talk about this together.
• Faith talk question: What helped you feel that God is with you today?
• Prayer: God, as we start a new week, thank you for being with us. We know that this week will bring happy things, sad things, exciting things, and surprises. Today we pray about things that will be happening in our family and our world this week. . . . (invite everyone to name things they’re excited or anxious about). God, we don’t know what the future looks like, but thank you that you never leave us—no matter what. Amen.
• Activity: Light a candle at mealtimes or prayer times to help your family remember that God is with you.

It’s as simple as that! There’s also a section in the back of the book with helpful basics like a gospel summary for kids, the Lord’s Prayer, Psalm 23, the Apostles’ Creed, and ideas for faith-forming evening check-ins with kids and teens.
