Discussing Ministry in an Interfaith World at Inspire 2019

Registration is now open for Inspire 2019 happening in Windsor, Ontario, August 1-3, 2019!

Inspire 2019 is an event designed specifically for ministry volunteers and leaders from Christian Reformed and Reformed churches across North America. Mary Hulst, Ann Voskamp, Ed Stetzer, and Soong Chan Rah are the featured speakers.

Over three days, people across the church will gather to worship God, build relationships across Christ’s community, and gain tools for ministry in your home communities. Resonate Global Mission is excited for the workshops about ministry in an interfaith world.

“In North America, we are now living in a society with many faiths,” said Greg Sinclair, Resonate’s Diaspora Ministry Leader. “Many of our communities have become rich in diversity—there may be a mosque, Gudwara, or temple down the street. Embracing this reality allows us to dialogue with people of other religious traditions, to both learn from them and to also share the gospel. Interfaith dialogue is a new opportunity for getting to know our neighbors that we can explore together and learn more about at Inspire 2019.”

Friday August 2, 10:00-11:00 am: Christian-Muslim Friendships and the Art of Scriptural Reasoning with Naji Umran

Reflecting on the experiences of North American CRC and RCA pastors who have visited and served in the Middle East over the last several years, this workshop will identify several important principles for developing interfaith relationships, and for deepening those over time.

Saturday August 3, 10:00-11:00am: Encouraging, Embracing and Extending Hospitality to People of other Faith Traditions with Greg Sinclair

This workshop will look at practical ways to offer hospitality towards people from other faith traditions. Whether we are welcoming people to our church services, engaging in community outreach, or interested in starting interfaith dialogue, this workshop will explore how we can engage in ways that balance a loving witness (word) with service (deed) and a Reformed perspective.

Friday August 2, 11:30am-12:30pm: Loving Your (Muslim) Neighbor with Lisa and Mike Hoogeboom

This workshop will explore the biblical framework for interacting with people of other faiths. It will place a specific focus on Islam, with practical tips for listening to and loving our Muslim neighbors for the sake of Christ.

Friday August 2, 3:30-4:30pm: Interfaith and Intercultural Engagement- from the University Campus to your Congregation & Community with Laura Osborne

In a world of uncertainty and hate, we need more intentional hospitality. At the same time, there are so many nationalities represented in the world around us, that we sometimes don’t know where to start the conversation. This workshop will focus on starting points for interfaith and intercultural dialogue.
