GENERAL POSITION  

Bring energy, skill and passion to develop spiritual lives of individuals and ministries of the church in fulfillment of our mission to Radiate God’s Love, Raise Christ Followers and Reach One More. 

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a deep and vibrant faith, a teachable spirit, self-starting motivation, organizational skills, effective communication and relational strength with a wide variety of people. He will be an effective and caring leader who himself will receive leadership well and will work as a team player in a collaborative environment. He will be effective at connecting with individuals while strategically developing ministry areas to implement our vision. 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES  

The Associate Pastor will implement the ministry direction set by the Council and Lead Pastor in the following areas:

Ministry and Volunteer Development 

  • Encourage members to engage in the life of the church in ways that promote spiritual growth and service according to member gifting
  • Guide development of adult ministries that deepen discipleship of members and attenders
  • Develop and promote Life Group ministry
  • Participate in leadership development in the broad scope of the church and for specific ministry areas
  • Create fellowship opportunities in the congregation

Community Outreach 

  • Inspire and equip the congregation to participate in initiatives that share and show Christ’s love to our community and beyond
  • Engage the church in community partnerships that serve needs and develop long term relationships
  • Oversee First Impressions to effectively welcome and connect new attendees
  • Share with the Lead Pastor in preparing people for membership from non-church or other church backgrounds   

 Preaching 

  • Preach approximately one Sunday per month as skills and interest allow according to need and as scheduled in agreement with the elders

Pastoral Care and Counseling 

  • Fully share in the pastoral care of the church with the Lead Pastor and Elders, including visits to the sick, hospitalized and shut-ins
  • Share in counseling, weddings and funerals as needed 

 Administration 

  • Support the Lead Pastor by sharing in the administrative work of the church 
  • Serve as an Elder and as the Lead Pastor’s alternate to classis 

Reporting Structure and Hours

  • Reports directly to the Lead Pastor and follows the organizational structure as approved by Council 
  • Position requires a minimum of 45 hours/week with flexibility to work evenings and weekends
