Classification: Salary – Full Time (Program Staff)
Reports to: Marketing Director
Start Date: June 2025
Location: Working remotely anywhere in Canada (or out of our Hamilton, Ontario office)

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Communications Specialist is responsible for the communications for the marketing, fundraising, and development activities produced by EduDeo Ministries. The Communications Specialist will capture the transformational work of our international partners into written informative and inspiring fundraising and promotional pieces, as well as support the growth and stewardship of relationships with EduDeo’s support community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: 

Fundraising Campaign Communications (40%)

  • Assist the Marketing team with the development, execution, and follow-up of fundraising campaigns and appeals.
  • Lead the writing of all campaign communications, including appeals, newsletters, cover letters, impact letters and gift acknowledgements, school and church campaigns, monthly giving communications, and EduDeo’s Impact Report.
  • Maintain foundational Marketing documents, such as process outlines, templates, and fundraising resources.
  • Lead and execute the organization’s email strategy, including campaigns, distribution list maintenance, open rate and subscription analysis.

Stories of Transformation (15%)

  • Write informative and inspiring stories of impact that highlight the short and long term impact of EduDeo’s work. Content will be used to update EduDeo’s blog and share impact with EduDeo’s support community.
  • Review quarterly reports and partner communications to identify potential stories,
  • Be aware of ongoing or completed projects that require follow-up.
  • Virtually interview teachers, students, parents, community members, and partners about the impact of projects, funding, or trainings. 

Digital Content (20%)

  • On an ongoing basis, update and create new website copy to coincide with new campaigns and web pages.
  • With the Marketing Director, work with the external web development team and provide recommendations to the website improvement strategy.
  • Craft social media content for EduDeo’s main social channels.
  • With the Marketing Director, build and maintain the social media strategy.

Major Donors and Grants  (15%)

  • With the Key Relationship Director, Executive Director, and Executive Assistant for Development, develop major donor and grant proposals and updates for new and existing audiences.
  • With the Key Relations team, grow the number of major funder relationships through foundation prospecting. 

Organization (10% )

  • Be an active member of the Marketing Team.
  • Be an active participant in team meetings.
  • Provide assistance, as requested, at various significant organizational events.
  • Continue to grow through professional development opportunities.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

YOU ARE THE IDEAL CANDIDATE IF YOU HAVE:

  • A strong commitment to Jesus Christ and His church.
  • A strong commitment to the vision, mission, values, and goals of EduDeo Ministries.
  • High self-motivation, are ambitious, and adaptable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • 3+ years experience in crafting communications for the purpose of fundraising.
  • An ability to effectively work with a variety of people across different countries and time zones.
  • An ability and interest to travel internationally at least 1 week per year.
  • An ability to legally work in Canada.
  • Post-secondary education in communications, journalism, or a related field is an asset.
  • A working knowledge of French and/or Spanish is an asset.
  • Experience with a non-profit mission / development organization is an asset.
