Full-Time Pastor at First CRC (Grosse Pointe Park, MI)

We, the members of First Christian Reformed Church of Detroit in Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan, are prayerfully seeking a full-time pastor to lead our congregation. Duties include, but are not limited to: preparing and preaching weekly sermons and leading worship, assisting our members in the continued development of their faith, providing pastoral care and counseling to our members, and providing leadership and direction for the ministries of the church.

First Christian Reformed Church of Detroit is part of the Christian Reformed Church in North America. We believe that the Gospel of Jesus Christ applies to all of life, and that Christian faith transforms lives, culture, and communities. We believe that the church is “the Body of Christ” – Jesus’ physical presence on earth. The church is made up of imperfect followers of Jesus who are called to be close to Jesus, become like Jesus, and bring Jesus’ offer of salvation to the world. Though it often falls short, the church is (when at its best) an embodiment of Jesus’ very personal love and grace and Jesus’ life-changing power and generosity.

First CRC is located in Southeastern Michigan and is situated in the small suburban community of Grosse Pointe Park, just outside of the Detroit city limits. The city features neighborhoods, where retail, schools, and churches are within close walking distance. The Metro Detroit area is diverse, immersed in culture, and is home to multiple socioeconomic populations, most of which are represented in our congregation.

Our church is a stable, gifted, and engaged congregation with an average Sunday attendance of 100 individuals. Our members and attendees actively participate in Sunday worship, sharing their gifts in music and leadership with the congregation on a weekly basis. Our church also has a daycare run by members of our congregation.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, insightful, open-minded individual to lead and work in conjunction with a small staff, our Council, and our congregation to continue the discipleship and strong traditions upon which our church is built.
