The Ministry to Seafarers Vancouver is a vibrant, cross-cultural chaplaincy ministry serving the Port of Vancouver, Canada. We are seeking applicants for the role of Port Chaplain as our current chaplain moves toward retirement in mid-2027.
About the Role
The Port Chaplain serves and ministers to seafarers from around the world whose ships visit the Port of Vancouver. The chaplain is a member of the Chaplaincy Team, a joint ministry of the following denominations:
Anglican — Mission to Seafarers
Christian Reformed — Ministry to Seafarers Vancouver
Roman Catholic — Stella Maris
The team operates out of the Flying Angel Club of the Mission to Seafarers. The chaplain reports to the Ministry to Seafarers Vancouver Board.
Qualifications & Responsibilities
Previous cross-cultural ministry experience is strongly recommended. Ordination is not required but is considered an asset.
The role also involves promoting the Ministry within churches and other settings.
This is a full-time position with a flexible working schedule, to be reviewed and approved by the Board. The position is expected to open in Spring 2027, with some flexibility in timing.
Orientation and transition support will be provided by the retiring chaplain and other members of the team.
Our Purpose
To serve with other port chaplains, sharing the love of Christ by caring for the spiritual, emotional, moral, and physical welfare of seafarers regardless of race or creed.
