The First Reformed Church in Fishkill is seeking a special individual for a position as our full-time Pastor. We have roots that extend back 310 years to the settlement of the mid-Hudson Valley, well before the Revolutionary War (during which our church played an important part). Though our roots are long, they are not static. We have adapted to meet the needs of our community, both local and worldwide.
We are welcoming and accepting of all who wish to join us in worship. We care about the dignity and welfare of our neighbor. We are aware that the world we live in is filled with injustice and we long for freedom for all peoples and nations. Our missions at home and abroad speak to this.
We survived Covid but not its effects. Our membership is down, church attendance is down, our Sunday School is no longer existent (but we are attempting to rebuild it). We are concerned about the “back seat” God has taken in communities including our own. What do we have to change in order to meet the needs of these families, while reminding them of the importance of knowing and worshiping God?

This full-time role is for a pastor who will make our congregation a focus of their attention, not just a part of their schedule. We need your wisdom, preaching, skill and caring in pastoring, and leadership to engage those in need of having Christ in their lives. If that describes you, we need YOU!
We see a glass that is half full and not half empty. We see and feel God pulling us to map out the future for the next 310 years. We want you to help us set the church on the right path as we work beside you to make that happen!
Our church has a current active confessing membership of approximately 50 people with another 20 inactive confessing members. We are with the Reformed Church in America. Our church uses a traditional style of worship. We are very much missional in our programs having the largest food pantry in southern Dutchess County (and over 60 volunteers), a preschool with before and after school programs, providing space to multiple AA programs, and supporting two RCA mission programs.
Fishkill is a suburban community roughly 1 1/2 hours north of New York City in the heart of the beautiful mid-Hudson River Valley with all of its benefits and splendors.
