JOB SUMMARY:  
Seated outside Denver at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, Family in Christ is a thriving community of faith committed to discovering life with God together for the good of the world. Our youth group is energetic, often silly, and dedicated to making disciples who make disciples. We have a wonderful team of adult and student leaders eager to partner with our new Youth Pastor. Our Sunday afternoon meetings typically host 30-50 students.

The Youth Pastor’s role is to provide a well–balanced program for youth that will help them discover and grow their faith in Jesus Christ and equip them to share the goodness of the Gospel with their friends. The right person for this role will model discipleship and evangelism, teach Biblical truth, mentor students, and build strong relationships with leaders and parents.

QUALIFICATIONS, REQUIREMENTS, AND SKILLS: 

  • Faith Commitment: Have a passionate commitment to follow Jesus and to make him known to others.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2+ years in youth ministry, youth counseling, or youth mentoring in a paid or volunteer position preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or Youth Ministry certification preferred.
  • Theology: Affirm the church’s Statement of Faith.
  • Skills: Demonstrate the qualifications for leadership as described in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. Exhibit strong organizational, conflict management, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Google Workspace and presentation software preferred. Audio-visual equipment experience is a plus.
  • Background Check: Must pass a background check.

EVALUATION AND COMPENSATION
$45-60k per year, full-time preferred. The Youth Pastor will receive an annual performance review. Compensation is reviewed annually by the Executive Director, Pastor, and the Council. Final compensation to be in accordance with FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act).

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

Student Ministry Responsibilities

  • Guide the spiritual formation of students in grades 6 - 12.
  • Design and implement student ministry programming in alignment with the church's mission and vision.
  • Plan and lead weekly youth group meetings and special events such as retreats and mission trips.
  • Prepare and deliver Gospel-centered messages in youth group.
  • Foster fellowship with students, parents, and the broader church.
  • Coordinate, recruit, supervise, and equip adult and student volunteer leaders.
  • Draft, submit, and manage an annual budget for the ministry.

Other Responsibilities

  • Quarterly preaching responsibilities once established in the role.
  • As time permits, assist with, and serve as a resource to the children’s ministry.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.

 

CONDUCT:
The Youth Pastor will have access to sensitive and confidential information, including counseling situations, and other private matters. It is absolutely essential that all personal information encountered in this role is treated with the utmost confidentiality and respect in accordance with Colorado's mandatory reporting requirements. The Youth Pastor will exhibit wisdom and maturity in maintaining appropriate relational boundaries with all students at all times.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

Manual/wrist/finger dexterity is required for word processing; ability to freely move throughout the church and grounds and be involved in job-related activities; ability to read various forms and information; ability to accurately hear and communicate in-person and over the telephone; ability to lift, push and maneuver up to 30 pounds (ministry event supplies), ability to operate a vehicle.


WORKING CONDITIONS AND EQUIPMENT USED: 

Work is performed within church buildings and grounds, in local settings, and around the community.  The position may involve travel to select off-site events for camps, events, trips, etc. Individuals must be able to effectively utilize various equipment such as computers and related cameras, software, printers, photocopiers, and cell phone. Evening and weekend hours typical to position.
