Job Description

To minister to youth (grades 6-12), young adults (post high school) and young families helping equip all generations to live out our mission “Real people doing Real life through Real transformation in Jesus Christ,” through the promotion of our values which are relationships, engagement, authenticity, and Christ-like love.

Job Responsibilities:

 Youth Ministry (grades 6-12)--Teaching Nurture youth in their relationship with Jesus Christ. Be available and fully engaged in large group settings but also be aware of the unique needs of youth as individuals. Maintain weekly scheduled meetings for both middle school and high school youth. Schedule, organize, communicate, and participate in annual mission opportunities for both high school and middle school youth, as well as local mission/service opportunities once a semester (Spring/Fall.) Be present and visible at weekly youth group gatherings for both high school and middle school ministries, serving as the primary teacher. Be available on Sunday mornings to answer questions and connect with students and parents; and attend the Sunday morning adult worship services. Create and provide youth with opportunities to serve, leading by example, as you mentor them in their Christian walk. 

Leadership--Facilitate monthly Youth Ministry Team meetings and with their input, develop a calendar, select curriculum materials for youth ministry, and coordinate a budget. Identify and nurture key students who are excited about the gospel and disciple them to be leaders within the group and provide them with opportunities to serve. Recruit, coordinate and train ministry volunteers, including youth small group leaders. Facilitate training and support for student ministry volunteers with an emphasis on mentoring, encouragement, acceptance, and modeling Biblical principles in real-life situations. In partnership with the Children’ s Ministry Director, coordinate Family Ministry programs (quarterly “Table Talk” meetings with parents, “family fun” events/social gatherings). These covered family resource courses like “mental health”, “bullying”, “technology and your kids”. Have an active social media presence on the youth account. Not just updates about events but sharing and creating posts/reels that encourage students throughout their week and point them to the Lord. Create and communicate a clear philosophy of ministry that aligns with our mission, vision, and values. 

Young Families--Engage and equip parents for discipling in the home through resources, discussion questions relating to youth group lessons, opportunities to host and be involved in the next gen ministry, etc. Communicate well with and be accessible to support parents and young families as they assimilate, serve, and share in the life of Mason County Reformed Church. Provide support and care as appropriate. Communicate regularly with volunteers, youth, and parents. Attend weekly staff meetings and monthly check-In meetings with ministry heads and leadership. Under the direction of the Lead Pastor, establish ministry goals and objectives, plan and follow an appropriate budget, delegate tasks, and evaluate personal and organizational progress regularly. Stay current with youth ministry practices by reading and attending youth ministry conferences. Work with the Director of Children’ s Ministries to involve youth in Sunday morning worship, serving opportunities, and other special programs. Maintain regular office hours and structure time in a way that balances both administrative and relational work. Create a cohesive partnership between the middle school and high school ministries. Work with the Director of Children’ s Ministries to build a seamless partnership for growth over the development of a child. Create/sustain a robust transitional plan for 5th-grade students moving to middle school ministry by working with the Director of Children’ s Ministry.
