Currently the Advisory Committee has a few openings for new members for a term limit of three years.  Please submit your application via this google form which has some questions that will help us understand more about you! Please note, that the deadline to apply is Sunday, April 14th, 2019.

Feel free to send this on to others who you think would make great additions to our committee!

Safe Church Ministry comes alongside CRCNA churches, providing resources for abuse prevention and response. Three mandates are each necessary to the ministry’s success in making our churches safer places, where relationships are characterized by respect, and where abuse is not tolerated. These are providing education for churches, support for those affected by abuse, and the advisory panel process in cases of church leader misconduct.

The SCM Advisory Committee (Committee) exists to guide the ministry and to serve as a resource for Safe Church staff. The Committee provides valuable input regarding setting direction and priorities for the ministry, responding to difficult situations, and developing materials, resources, and opportunities.

The Committee meets once each year in Grand Rapids. The meetings usually last from 8:30 – 2pm and include a catered lunch. Expenses for the meeting (travel and lodging if needed) are reimbursed by the Office of Safe Church Ministry. Virtual meetings, joined by video or phone, occur 2-3 additional times per year and last approximately 2 hours.

The ideal number for the Committee is 6-8 people - and will represent different geographical areas and people groups in the CRCNA, as well as possess a passion for the
ministry and skills needed for the work of the Committee. The standard term is 3 years, with the option to renew. Committee members are expected to hold any sensitive information in strict confidence.

We hope that you will take time to prayerfully consider serving the CRCNA in this capacity. Please feel free to contact the director, Bonnie Nicholas, with any questions, or for more information. Thank you.
