JOB DESCRIPTION: ASSOCIATE PASTOR (PART-TIME)

 

Tapestry Mundy Park is a vibrant 7-year-old congregation, planted in the City of Coquitlam. We are a multi-ethnic, multi-generational church centered in Christ and living for the glory of God. We are a community woven in faith, inspired by hope and motivated by love.

We are looking for an organized, community-minded person who can provide faithful pastoral leadership and wise operational oversight to the various ministries in our congregation. Working alongside our campus pastor, staff and leadership team, the successful applicant will champion ministries and initiatives that help build our capacity to “make disciples that make disciples.”

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES | Working with our Campus Pastor, the Associate Pastor will provide creative, supportive, empowering leadership to 2-3 areas of ministries in our church.

Worship

  • Maintain a regular pastoral presence at corporate worship gatherings. 
  • Preach 4-5 times a year and administer sacraments as needed
  • Assist in planning special services such as Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, Christmas Eve.

Discipleship

  • Teach baptism, profession of faith and membership classes.
  • Steward our small group ministry through curriculum writing, training and coaching.

Community Life

  • Provide pastoral care and/or pastoral counselling during critical life moments
  • Help plan and coordinate community-wide events such as global banquets, service projects, church retreats, and other events and initiatives.

Mission

  • Foster ways for our congregation to practice faithful presence in our neighborhood. 
  • Lead initiatives and/or courses that enable us to practice faithful Gospel witness.
  • Strengthen relational bonds with current/future missional organizations/agencies. 

Ministry Wheelhouse | Depending on the gifting and interest of the candidate, the Associate Pastor can also take on one or more of the following responsibilities:

  • Build a program of leadership development or intergenerational mentorship.
  • Develop ministry that supports people’s emotional, mental and relational flourishing.
  • Help with grant writing, fundraising, and/or capital campaigns. 
  • Build up an effective marketing & communications ministry for Tap Mundy Park.

 

QUALIFICATION

Successful candidates will have a combination of education and experience that demonstrates that they have a heart for the church and the mission of God. They will be a self-starter and have the ability to teach, facilitate groups, lead and equip God’s people to serve his mission in the church and the world. 

The candidate will have completed or be in the process of completing formal theological training at either the Bachelor or Masters level. Other forms of faith-based leadership development programs will be an asset. Additionally, they will have strong computer, organizational and communication skills and will have a proven track record in recruiting, training and building teams of leaders and volunteers. We are looking for a person with strong administrative giftings who is strong at implementation to complement our staff team. 

Outside of formal education, our matrix of selection is a combination of assessing character, competence and chemistry. First, we’re looking for a person who is self-aware, humble, faithful, trustworthy and has a bias towards action. Second, we’re looking for a person who can create content, communicate effectively, build systems and structures and lead groups of people. Cultural competency, strong leadership and organizational skills are an asset. Third, we are looking for a person who is collaborative and team-oriented and who can work adaptively in a work environment with continual adjusting priorities.

 

SALARY RANGE

$25,000 to $32,500 annually (0.5 FTE), plus benefits.
