The Community Life Director fosters meaningful connections, nurtures spiritual growth, and promotes a sense of belonging among our members and the broader community. S/he plays a pivotal role in shaping and implementing programs and events that promote fellowship and engagement within our community. (Note: this position may be combined with an open part-time Operations Director position to create one full-time position.)
Roles & Responsibilities
Community Building
- Organize and facilitate events and gatherings that promote fellowship, outreach, and community involvement.
- Recruit, train, and support volunteers to assist in various community life programs and events.
- Manage operational details for Evergreen’s Community Night, serving as liaison to community outreach partner.
Hospitality and First Impressions
- Lead efforts to cultivate a warm and welcoming atmosphere within the church community, ensuring all members and guests feel valued and included.
- Oversee hospitality teams and systems, including greeters, ushers, and coffee bar team.
- Organize and implement a follow-up strategy for guests who attend worship services and events.
- Accurately and consistently maintain and utilize the Planning Center People database to provide follow-up and tracking of guests.
Small Group Ministry
- Coordinate and support small group initiatives, alongside pastoral staff, to facilitate deeper connections and spiritual growth in our community.
- Effectively communicate with small group leaders and participants, providing regular updates, encouragement, and opportunities for collaboration and feedback.
- Develop strategies to reach out to new members and newcomers, inviting them to join small groups and facilitating their integration into the church community.
Qualifications
- Willing to become an active member of Evergreen Ministries
- Passionate desire to create communities of belonging in an age of isolation.
- Ability to lead teams and equip volunteers for ministry, helping them feel cared for and energized.
- High-level organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to break large projects into manageable steps.
- Willingness to work as a team player within a collaborative environment.
- Previous experience in ministry leadership, community outreach, event planning, or related fields is desirable, but not required.
