Part-Time Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry - (20 hours / week)

Community Christian Reformed Church – Kitchener, Ontario

Purpose:  The purpose of this position is to build relationships with youth and young adults and encourage them to participate fully in the life of the congregation.

Qualifications:  The Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry must have a demonstrated ability to relate well with and encourage youth and young adults, training related to ministry and/or youth related fields and have two years of experience in youth ministryThe incumbent must have the ability and desire to work as part of a team and to assist in providing guidance to volunteers in the implementation of the mission of CCRC.  The incumbent must have the ability to relate to people of all ages and have strong communication and organizational skills for planning and organizing the youth and young adult programs.  The incumbent must be able to work without daily supervision.

Mandate:  The Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry will develop and strengthen relationships and programs that provide spiritual formation for youth and young adults.  The DYYAM will implement council’s vision for youth ministry in the congregation, enabling youth and young adults to participate fully in the life of the congregation (e.g. Communities, service, and worship, etc). The DYYAM will generate youth ministry related ideas in collaboration with pastoral staff and volunteers. Where appropriate the DYYAM will use an intergenerational approach to ministry. 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  1. Relationship building:  The Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry will focus on building healthy, encouraging relationship with Youth and Young Adults. The DYYAM will develop a strong team of youth ministry volunteer leaders and also mentor youth volunteers. The DYYAM will be sensitive to the relationships between youth and young adults and their parents. 
  2. Building connections: Connecting youth and young adults to the full life of the church through worship, community, mission, fellowship, discipleships, and care.  The DYYAM will build and maintain a communication process to inform youth, young adults, and parents of programs and/or events and encourage their involvement.
  3. Faith Formation:  Leading Bible studies, program development, intergenerational interaction, age-appropriate discipleship and education, participate in God’s work. Help youth and young adults know their place in God’s redemption story. 
  4. Administration:  Collaborate with other staff to ensure smooth operation of church programs and also an active member of the Faith Formation Ministry Team.  This role may also be working in coordination with Waterloo CRC’s youth program and administration following a review of the 2023/2024 combined CCRC and Waterloo youth program season. 
  5. Miscellaneous: Other duties as may be assigned by Council/supervisor.

Measurement:  Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry will be reviewed on an annual basis by an evaluation process defined and completed by Council.

Working Relationships:  Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry reports directly to Pastor – Pastoral Care and Mission.  Collaboration with Youth programs administrator.

Authority:  Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry will operate within the terms of this mandate and will operate within the limits of the budgets approved each year and request approval to spend funds beyond the budget prior to committing the related expenses.

 

Salary: +/- $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
