Opportunity:  Families Ministry Director position at Connections Church, located in Highlands Ranch, CO (Denver area).  Connections Church is a member of the Christian Reformed Church denomination.

The Family Ministry Director (FMD) is responsible for overseeing the family ministries, catering to children from infants through elementary school. This position involves collaborating with the pastor to ensure alignment with the church's vision, recruiting, training, and equipping of volunteers.  The FMD is also responsible for developing and implementing curriculum, coordinating activities, organizing and leading various outreach events and camps, and connecting with the children’s parents and/or guardians.  

Job Details:

  • Sunday mornings at the church, flexible schedule and remote work environment during the week.
  • Salary: depending on qualifications, time commitment. Approximately 10 -15 hours/week.  Range: $21-$25/hour.
  • Reports to:  Pastor

Responsibilities:

Primary Duties: to create one awesome hour on Sunday mornings!

  • Coordinate volunteers for Sunday programs: nursery, preschool and elementary school classrooms through online Planning Center
  • Prepare curriculum consistent with Reformed theology and have available the needed supplies for volunteer teachers and assistants
  • Oversee ongoing set up, clean up, and organization of classrooms
  • Oversee registration and check-in process online through Planning Center.  Keep record of attendance through Planning Center
  • Communicate with families monthly through emails, sharing what is being studied and upcoming events
  • Recruit new volunteers as required
  • Coordinate curriculum with Pastor
  • Ensure that the Safe Church and Emergency Plan church’s policies are adhered to by the family ministries team, to ensure the safety of the children and volunteers
  • Participate in staff meetings

Secondary Duties: Community Connections and Summer Outreach

  • Coordinate seasonal outreach events with staff: examples include Easter Egg Hunt, end-of-school event, summer activities, Fall Festival, and Christmas childcare
  • Lead a summer camp, such as VBS or Art camp

Skills required include:

  • Ability to organize and communicate
  • Knowledge of faith developing/age-appropriate curriculum and classroom structures  
  • Leadership in recruiting, equipping and inspiring volunteers
  • Teaching skills to children ages 0 through elementary school students 
  • A self-starter with the ability to delegate
  • And eye for design in creating a winsome children’s ministry environment
  • Experienced with (or willing to learn) Online Planning Center 

Education/Experience

  • An undergraduate or associate degree from an accredited school is preferred, with some course work in education
  • Previous experience in a similar role is desirable
  • Be able to pass a background check every 3 years
