Purpose:
In consultation with the Woodland Drive-In Campus Pastor and the staff of Fifth Reformed, the Woodland Drive-In Worship Leader is responsible for planning and leading the music at our Woodland Drive-In campus and furthering the mission and work of the church in leading music. The Worship Leader is responsible for helping strengthen the musical worship of the Woodland Drive-In community and help it grow from where it is currently as a purely volunteer ministry.
Woodland Drive-In Church Context:
Woodland Drive-In Church is a campus of Fifth Reformed Church and is the longest running drive-in church in America since it was established in 1970. Our congregation gathers each week in their cars to worship together. The congregation also joins together in classes, lunches, and other community outside of their vehicles, as well as participating in the larger life of Fifth Reformed Church. Woodland Drive-In Church offers a unique and beautiful expression of worship and community in service to God.
Status:
This is a part-time position for 8 hours a week that reports to the Woodland Drive-In Pastor.
Qualifications and Core Values:
1. Maintain a vital and growing relationship with Christ through the exercise of
basic Christian spiritual disciplines including prayer and meditation on scripture.
2. Demonstrate a high level of moral integrity understanding that personal
conduct impacts the larger work and witness of the church.
3. Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
4. Agree to, and abide by, the Staff Team Covenant.
Essential Functions:
1. Planning and leading the music of corporate worship services. This includes responsibility for:
a. Planning and leading the music service with the Woodland Drive-In Pastor through weekly meetings and communication
b. Communicating with the Administrative Assistant music needs.
c. Leading or be present in coordination of worship leadership all but 8 Sundays a year
d. Coordinating, with volunteers, special music guests and those covering on weeks off
e. Coordinating the person for special music
2. This role does not at this time involve overseeing a band or leading other musicians. There is a potential and opportunity for growth here.
3. Planning and overseeing the music budget for the WDI with the Woodland Drive-In Pastor.
4. Continued growth in skills through training/classes in worship and leadership, observing other services, learning new music, and growing in skills as vocalist and instrumental(s). Funds are available to assist in this growth.
5. Investing in community and relationships within the congregation.
Qualifications:
1. Competency and giftedness in leading worship in both vocals and instrumental together.
2. Preference for giftedness in playing guitar and/or piano along with vocals.
3. Preference for experience in leading worship.
4. Commitment to the mission of the Woodland Drive-In: “To bring people to Jesus Christ and to help them grow in their Christian faith.”
5. Possess a high level of emotional health that is evident in personal interactions.
