Saying Thanks Is One Thing ... Showing Thanks Is Quite Another

It’s Ministry Appreciation Month and showing love to your youth leader is a great place to start. Sure, you could send a card, or offer a sincere “thank you” next time you see them. But what if you showed your appreciation through your actions? Yeah, there definitely are ways to show your appreciation.
When you get emails or texts from youth leaders reminding you or your children of upcoming events, do you respond to let them know you received the message? Even acknowledging notes like this shows that you value the leaders’ efforts.
When they beg for help, do you help? I’ve had so many parents thank me for my work with the youth but never, ever help with any of our projects. Now in their defense, some have plenty of other ministry obligations. But others just don’t seem to think they need to jump in to help. You wanna show youth leaders you care? Help when they ask for help.
Most of all, I would suggest that you pray regularly for youth leaders and remind them that you are praying for them. Ask for specific prayer needs. Here’s an idea that may be out of your comfort zone: actually take the time to gather parents and lay hands on your youth leaders in prayer. Do this regularly and you’ll show your appreciation and bring blessings to the youth leaders and youth groups.
