God calls us to pray continuously. Find time to take a minute away from the chaos of the holidays and pray for God’s mission this Christmas season.

A Prayer of Worship

The days leading up to December 25th are the perfect time to glorify God in our prayers. When we reflect on the Christmas story, we can see all that God has done through sending his son down to earth. Luke 2:14 frames our voices for worshiping the Lord: “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” Praise God for his humility in giving up his only son so we can have a closer relationship with him and have eternal life.

A Prayer to Remember

It's to get caught up in the holiday excitement or traditions. Take time and reflect on what God has done. Read the Christmas story right from the source: the Bible! This is a great way to align our hearts and remember what Christmas is truly honoring.

Isaiah 9:6-7 reminds us of the Christmas story: “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace, there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.”

Christmas is about the birth of Jesus and God’s kingdom coming near to us! Ask God to help you remember the importance of Christmas and to share the love of Jesus.

A Prayer of Thanksgiving

Prayers of thanksgiving will help us to take the focus off of ourselves and redirect the focus on God. Titus 3:4-5 is a reminder that God saved us: “But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.” Jesus is the one who bore the burden and died to save all of us. Sing a prayer of thanksgiving during Christmas when you look around and see all the blessings God has given you. Here at Resonate, we’re grateful for all our supporters and give thanks to God for the reach of our mission this Christmas season.

A Prayer for People to Know Jesus

This holiday season, take time to pray for people to come to know Jesus. Acts 13:47 reminds us of an important role we play in God’s mission: “For this is what the Lord has commanded us, ’I have made you a light for the gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’” One of the important ways we can do that is through prayer. Pray God’s kingdom will grow on earth this Christmas season. You can pray a general prayer, pray for a specific region, for an individual, or even for Resonate!
