I recently had the opportunity to talk with a church that was looking for materials to help them become more welcoming. I thought it was an excellent question and did some of my own searching for materials that I thought would be helpful for this church.

Here are a couple of the resources that I found:

  • The Network (aka where you are right now). This active ministry sharing website of the CRC has an entire section designated to Hospitality. In addition, there are topics such as Disability Concerns, Safe Church, and Community Engagement. Elders, Deacons, Pastors, Worship Leaders, and more can also find sections designated to resources and questions that are applicable to their context.
  • Another great site to check out is Reformed Worship. There are many great articles on the site related to worship and beyond. In addition, I entered a search for “greeters” and found some interesting reading.

These resources are an excellent place to start but I would also love to hear your ideas or anything you've found helpful.

How has your church created a welcoming atmosphere? Were there any materials on this topic you found helpful?
