In the early ‘90s, Church of the Servant in Grand Rapids, Michigan decided to rethink their facilities management. Upending the traditional model, the congregation instead implemented a plan to care for the church building and property in ways that honor God’s creation and reduce operational costs.

And this stewardship initiative has had a huge impact! Church of the Servant has saved over 95,000 KWH of energy and $25,000 in energy costs by investing in:

  • Solar panel installation
  • Community garden creation
  • Energy efficient system upgrades
  • Landscaping with drought resistant grass and native gardens

Their story can be yours as well. Through partnership with the Climate Witness project, your church can also increase its energy stewardship and take practical and cost-saving steps that focus on creation care.

We want to connect you with these opportunities in your local area! Our regional organizers, across the U.S and Canada, have you covered. They’ve created resource lists that include solar installers, clean energy tax credit opportunities, nonprofits working in ecological restoration, tree planting groups, local farms, advocacy groups, and much more.
