In the early ‘90s, Church of the Servant in Grand Rapids, Michigan decided to rethink their facilities management. Upending the traditional model, the congregation instead implemented a plan to care for the church building and property in ways that honor God’s creation and reduce operational costs.
And this stewardship initiative has had a huge impact! Church of the Servant has saved over 95,000 KWH of energy and $25,000 in energy costs by investing in:
- Solar panel installation
- Community garden creation
- Energy efficient system upgrades
- Landscaping with drought resistant grass and native gardens
