Church Between Borders

Most Christians report they never talk about immigration in their church, yet Scripture repeatedly reminds us of the blessing of the stranger. (The word “immigrant,”  or “stranger,” appears 92 times in the Old Testament!) Join our interactive Church Between Borders workshop to learn more about what the Bible says about immigrants, how immigration works today, and why it's important the church is equipped to fulfill the Biblical calling to "welcome the stranger" and love our immigrant neighbors!

Faith in Action: Practicing Biblical Advocacy

This workshop will teach you and your congregation how to advocate about the root causes of poverty and injustice. Contacting elected officials may be daunting but sharing your well-informed opinion can make a real difference on the issues that you care about and can bring about long-term changes to unjust systems. This workshop will help you navigate the political system, step-by-step, and prepare you with all the tools you need to have your voice heard by local, state/provincial, and national leaders.

Why Creation Care Matters to Christians

As part of God’s creation ourselves what can we do to show our love for God and our neighbor by caring for creation? How does our relationship with God transform our relationship with creation? What kinds of things can we do every day that make real world differences? What can we do to inspire friends and family to join us in caring for creation? This session will help you to discover answers to these questions and encourage you to continue to live up to our moral call and duty to care for creation and the environment.

The Blanket Exercise

The Blanket Exercise is a tool that literally walks participants through the history of relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada and the United States. This exercise will help participants understand why reconciliation is needed and how to take steps toward reconciliation and new relationships.

The Many Voices and Cultures of the CRCNA

The Christian Reformed Church’s growing diversity among those of African, Chinese, Hispanic, Indigenous (including Native Americans), Korean and Pacific Islander/Southeast Asian descent provides stories that need to be heard, leadership efforts that need emphasis, and ministries that reflect generational mixes across North America. Leaders of each of these groups will give highlights of the Spirit’s on-going work among these various cultural/ethnic groups.
