One Sunday Marlene and her friend Zach led the welcome time at their church. Zach lives with Down syndrome and his speech can be hard to understand.
Marlene and Zach's mom decided to get creative and use a bitmoji presentation to guide the welcome. It was very cool—light hearted while also respectful of Zach (he was able to communicate clearly). Some serious points to Marlene, Zach, and Zach’s mom for creativity!
There was one problem: They couldn’t find any bitmojis of people with Down syndrome! Hmm. . . any artists out there who could fix that?

What a great idea and resource! Do you happen to know whether and how Zach was included in the decision-making process about doing this? While it is a great idea, I think anything that involves individuals with intellectual and developmental differences should at the very least have their approval and support.

Yes, Zach was most certainly part of developing the welcome. The was a practice session where questions and fun ideas were brainstormed and Zach's sense of fun (and love for super heros!) was highlighted.
