Every year, the Christian Reformed Church sets aside one Sunday in the year to acknowledge and recognize the painful reality of abuse. It is an opportunity to lament and grieve with those who have been harmed by abuse in any form, to commit again to doing what we as a Christian community can do to prevent abuse, and to inspire congregations to address abuse in ways that seek justice and healing for all those who have been impacted. This year, Abuse Awareness Sunday is April 27, 2025.
Below, you will be able to find a resource document for Abuse Awareness Sunday. The document includes resources to plan worship themes, sermon starters, questions for reflection, relevant Biblical passages, and additional helpful texts. Additional Network resources are also posted in the comments below. Finally, find more resources at Thrive's homepages for Abuse Awareness, including a free, downloadable bulletin insert from Faith Alive Christian Resources.
