How Do Your Deacons Collaborate Locally or Regionally?

I recently shared a post on The Network about an organization called Volunteers in Service (VIS), which looks at how deacons in the Grand Rapids region have ensured a level of support and cooperation over the years. 

Such cooperation is an important element in addressing local needs, as well those in the broader community. The church as a whole becomes more relevant. 

In order to find models that might be effective in various contexts, would you share your experience? How do your churches work together? What kind of leadership role do deacons play?
