Most churches have several individuals who are willing to lead a small group of 3-10 people in contexts such as Coffee Break, Bible Study, Sunday School, etc. Praise the Lord! However, as more and more churches are stepping into the challenge of growing the kingdom of God through the establishment of Missional Communities, they need to be able to identify and develop leaders who have capacity and competencies to successfully lead larger groups (15+). Here is one group's list of what those skills and character traits should be. The list was created for another team to take it and reverse engineer a curriculum and process that would result in the identification and development of leaders with the capacity to lead larger groups. May it inspire your imagination as you and your congregation develop structures for leadership development.
