Pastor wellbeing is a top commitment at Thrive, the congregational support agency of the CRCNA. One of the most valuable resources pastors can draw upon to flourish in ministry is consultation and care from professionals such as coaches, counselors, mentors and spiritual directors. Thrive both encourages pastors to make use of professional support, and looks for ways to invest in CRC-connected professional care providers. We maintain lists of recommended professionals, agencies, and retreat centers should a pastor need a referral (and we welcome recommendations from pastors who have been blessed by a particular practitioner or experience). We also offer support and networking opportunities for such professionals.

Currently, Thrive is in the planning stages of two projects specifically for engaging with spiritual directors in the CRC landscape. The first will be a few regional receptions to connect with and learn from spiritual directors. The second will be a gathering of spiritual directors from across the CRCNA. In addition to these events, we’re updating our database of CRC-connected spiritual directors so that we can more effectively connect spiritual directors to pastors who would be blessed by their work.

If you belong to the CRCNA and have been certified as a spiritual director, we’d love to hear from you! Please email [email protected] and let us know your:

  • willingness to be added to our database for referrals;
  • interest in upcoming support and networking opportunities;
  • training and credentialing organization;
  • location and home congregation;
  • agency or website.

We look forward to connecting with you, and we appreciate the ways you serve the church.
