What is a Multicultural Kingdom Identity?

The journey toward becoming an intercultural church is both a spiritual calling and a practical challenge. As part of the ongoing development of the Intercultural Tool Kit, several foundational resources have been identified to help congregations move from a "multicultural" presence to true "intercultural" engagement.

One such resource is What is a multicultural kingdom identity?

This resource looks at how the Kingdom of God, inaugurated in Jesus Christ, has implications for intercultural ministry. The kingdom identity portrays a new, diverse, non-uniform community of believers from various cultures with adjusted worldviews, looking to Christ as our centre. It defines a multicultural church as a worshipping community of believers that:

1. has an intentional desire to draw together people of diverse cultural backgrounds as a sacramental, missional community in the city;
2. has reconciling, relational processes and practices which accept and embrace a diversity of peoples; 
3. has empowering leadership processes and practices which draw diverse cultural voices into the decision-making structures of the congregation.
