Asking the Big Question

Life is full of big questions, such as:
But here’s an even bigger question: “What is your only comfort in life and in death?”
When you’re diagnosed with a terminal illness, or a terrorist drives a truck into an unsuspecting crowd, or a rogue nation threatens nuclear war, do you instinctively take comfort in the fact “that I am not my own, but belong — body and soul, in life and in death — to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ”?
If we’re honest, that’s not always our first thought in a crisis. But embracing that truth can be life-changing.
The Big Question is a new four-session study that explores how the catechism’s Q&A 1 can shape our faith. Each session includes an opening activity, several catechism exploration/activity options, time for sharing faith stories, and a take-home sheet with thought/discussion questions, Scripture passages, and a spiritual practice to guide individual devotional times.
The Big Question is designed for youth groups, small groups, and intergenerational groups. It’s informal, simple to lead, and the course materials cost just $10 per group. You can purchase it from Faith Alive or view a sample session here.
