Last week, the Youth Ministry webinar focused on engaging parents in ministry. Lesli Van Milligan shared with us many good examples where engagement might take place and the reasons why it is so important to youth ministry to do so.

One of the resources Lesli and I made mention of is the Sticky Faith curriculum which contains many excellent insights and tangible examples of ways we can not just engage parents in ministry but also help them understand their roles as the primary spiritual influence in their children and youths lives.

Check out this video at this link and consider the following questions:

  • As a parent, what ways can we support the youth ministries in our church?
  • As a parent, what is my role as a spiritual nurturer in the life of my child?

Perhaps these verses might be helpful for us:

Love God, your God, with your whole heart: love him with all that’s in you, love him with all you’ve got!

Write these commandments that I’ve given you today on your hearts. Get them inside of you and then get them inside your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning to when you fall into bed at night. Tie them on your hands and foreheads as a reminder; inscribe them on the door posts of your homes and on your city gates.

Deut. 6:5-9 (The Message)
