On October 27-28th (a Thursday/Friday), CRCNA's staff members Andrew Oppong and Eric Kas, of Social Justice and Safe Church, will be partnering to offer a two-day training in Restorative Practices for Faith Communities. This training will be held at the CRCNA offices (1700 28th St. SE) in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and will introduce participants to FaithCARE’s framework and vision for restorative congregations.

Participants will learn how to design and facilitate proactive listening circles for a variety of topics and occasions. You'll also learn how to incorporate restorative practices to enrich interpersonal relationships, small groups, teams, congregational life, and many other contexts.

The cost of this training is $100 and includes lunch. If you would like to apply for a $50 scholarship, please email Rev. Eric Kas with Scholarship in the email subject line.

In this training, you’ll learn how restorative practices can enrich:

  • Leadership meetings
  • Staff meetings
  • Bible studies
  • Small groups
  • Youth group
  • Congregational discernment

 This training is recommended for:

  • Lay Leaders and Members
  • Pastors
  • Council and Board members
  • Leadership teams
  • Pastoral care teams
  • Interim ministers
  • Denominational staff

**This training incorporates content that is typically used in days 1 & 2 of restorative practice trainings, but contextualized to a congregational setting; similar to the Dispute Resolution Center of West Michigan's trainings. We are expecting to be certified and offer trainings in days 3 & 4 in the future, which is focused on facilitating higher level conflict in the congregational context.

An opportunity for training in Ontario will posted soon as well. Stay tuned!
