On Wednesday, May 6, Coffee Break debuted its new logo and name! Juan Sierra, the Global Coffee Break Program Manager, spoke of the new name and logo in a video posted on Facebook. Coffee Break will now be called 'Global Coffee Break' to reflect the global reach of the ministry as it is now in 26 countries and growing.
A new logo was presented showing a blue mug that houses a chat bubble. The blue look of the logo reflects the "blue world" aspect tying to a global connection. The new logo also features a chat bubble that signifies the importance of conversation within the group Bible studies. The coffee mug symbolizes the relaxed atmosphere that most groups have, allowing them an opportunity to invite friends and neighbors. For the first time, the logo also comes with a tagline (Discovering Together) that is at the heart of the values of this ministry.
Church groups are encouraged to use the new name and logo but are not required. In fact, Global Coffee Break encourages local contextualization which allows groups to call themselves something that is fitting for their local mission. Whether a group is in English, Korean, or Spanish, many already use names that fit their local church and city.
This year Coffee Break celebrates 50 years of ministry but it has been around 30 years since a new logo had been revised. It is fitting that as Coffee Break celebrates 50 years they refresh their look to prepare for another 50 years of Bible study materials and training.
It is Juan's hope that this new look and logo will help attract a new generation of Bible study users to the ministry who will love it as much as those who currently participate.
