We are excited to introduce to you one of the newest members of our Faith Formation Ministries team: Ron Chu. Ron serves as a Regional Catalyzer in California.

1. Ron, Can you describe for us a key person (or people) who played an important role in your faith formation?

There are many people who are responsible for who I am today. Mostly Korean pastors and evangelists. Many of these people probably do not realize the impact they had in my life. My faith formation happened before I became a pastor. It was their lifestyles that impacted me and helped me realize what it meant to be a believer.

2. You have worked with a number of churches, can you tells a little bit more about your work with churches and how you think that experience enrich your work for Faith Formation Ministries?

Many churches that I worked with were troubled churches, and I was often called to solve a problem. In the beginning stages of my ministry, I dealt with children, youth and young adults in Education and EM (English Ministry). Recently, I am also called to work with many ethnic churches and leaders. I've witnessed and experienced many churches and believers struggling with faith and serving in the church. I've also witnessed many who were faithful in their service and life in the Lord. I am a analyzer and problem solver.

Faith Formation will be different for different people with different backgrounds and experiences. My experience of working with large and small churches, as well as people of many different backgrounds gave me opportunities to grow and make sense of what it means to be a child of God. After 30+ years of ministry, God gave me a heart to help people grow in the Lord. Discipleship, counseling and mentoring people for ministry is the passion God has given me. I believe everyone is called to ministry - although not everyone is called to be pastors or missionaries. All gifts God gives us can be (should be) used for His Kingdom/ministry.

3. You also have a yearning to grow and disciple this Millennial generation, how do you hope to bring that passion to your work for Faith Formation Ministries?

This passion is not about being part of FFM. It is my life, and it is what I'm called to do. I do discipleship and work with young people not because I'm part of FFM but because it is God's call for me. I am honored to be able to work with others who are passionate about helping others to grow in the Lord. No one is perfect but we can always help those who may be couple of steps behind us. However, I am sure that in that process, I will be learning many things from them as well.

4. If you could have any superpower, what would it be, and how would you use it in your role as a Regional Catalyzer?

I wish I can say that with a flick of a finger, I can turn everyone into a Christian, but that's wasn't Jesus way although He certainly had the power. There is no short cuts to spirituality and the journey process is necessary. If I can ask for a superpower, I would love to be able to move from one place to another instantly. Traveling time makes me tired, and I wish I could save those times to be able to help (be with) people.
