How do we respond to the difficulties we face? Do they turn us away from faith or drive us deeper into our faith? Do we isolate ourselves or seek solace from the community around us?

God never promises that life will be easy on this side of eternity, but God does promise to be present with us through the Holy Spirit. He is our comfort in the storms of life; we are held by God, and he is much bigger than any of our problems. He also connects us with a community of believers who hold one another up in times of struggle. We never have to go it alone.

In a collection of devotions from Today, entitled “Seeking God in Suffering,” Bonny Mulder-Behnia shares from her experiences of facing cancer and grief, and she shows how the people in her family and ministry network have been some of the richest resources for navigating difficulties and finding strength in God and his Word. Their faith in God in the midst of trials, she says, has been inspiring and instructive.

I invite you to take a journey through this 28-day devotional series to seek God in your own suffering. We pray that you, like Bonny, will be blessed by the comfort available in God's Word, by God’s healing presence, and by the community of believers around you. To get “Seeking God in Suffering,” subscribe to daily emails from Today devotional right here. If you are already a Today subscriber, we plan to email you a copy of the ebook.

We pray this resource enables you to be refreshed, refocused, and renewed in God’s Word!
