Job Description

The principal work of the pastor is spiritual discipleship through biblical preaching and teaching, partnering with us in mission, and equipping us for ministry. 

Areas of Focus:

  • Communicate to believers and those who are not yet believers that Jesus loves them and encourages lifelong spiritual growth.
  • Passionately practice personal evangelism and empower the congregation to do the same.
  • Champion and embody the mission of Covenant.
  • Disciple and invest in staff, key leaders, elders, and deacons so they can effectively serve in their roles while equipping others.
  • Plan and lead worship in conjunction with the worship leader, which includes administering the sacraments.

Other Responsibilities and Expectations:

  • Encourage collaboration with our ministry partners.
  • Provide pastoral care in cooperation with Care Teams.
  • Provide short-term counseling for members and make referrals as needed.
  • Conduct wedding and funeral services aligning with the Great Lakes City Middle Assemblies and within a pastor's discernment.
  • Provide staff supervision, evaluation, and coaching in coordination with the admin team.
  • Ordained in the RCA or ordination recognized in the RCA, and in agreement with RCA standards and confessions.
  • Become an active, committed member of the Great Lakes City Middle Assembly.

The salary we are prepared to offer our new pastor is in line with the denominational salary guidelines.
