Do you have a passion for music ministry? If so, Brookside CRC in Grand Rapids, Mich. is hiring a part-time Director of Music and Worship who has the privilege of leading and planning worship services, working closely with the pastors and dedicated volunteers, to form worshipers of all members of our diverse congregation. This is a part-time role; averaging 20 hours per week.

The Director of Music and Worship is responsible for the planning and leading of Brookside Christian Reformed Church's weekly worship. This includes oversight of our musical ministry and the formation of all members (including children, teens and adults) as worshipers.

Brookside CRC is a community of people, individuals, and groups, both young and old, from all walks of life; using our gifts to love, learn, seek and serve. The Director of Music and Worship leads in the worship formation of all members; from all ages, social-economic standing, ethnicity, and musical preference, in accordance with biblical and Reformed principles. 

You will contribute by:

  • Planning the liturgy and music for the worship services in collaboration with the pastor.
  • Leading the musical ministry of the church, encouraging, supporting, training, and building up the variety of worship gifts in the body.
  • Encouraging wide congregational participation in worship by being attuned to congregational needs, habits, and tradition, while also leading us in a growing and rich diversity of appropriate worship expression
  • Actively recruiting, encouraging, and training a rich diversity of children, teens, men, and women to be involved in worship leadership.

We are seeking someone who:

  • Possess a combination of education and experience with worship planning, coordinating, and leading.
  • Demonstrates musical skills; preferably a mix of vocal and instrumental skill.
  • Holds an appreciation for both traditional and contemporary worship patterns, expressions, and music.
  • Has a desire and passion for integrated, multigenerational, biblical, and Reformed worship services.
