Sophie, my fifteen month old daughter, spends two days a week at daycare. I was eager to attend the first parent conference this spring to hear about what she's learning and how they see her developing. Besides the "hi" and "bye" when I pick her up, I rarely have time to talk with her teachers. I appreciated the chance to get to know her caregiver, to hear how much she loves Sophie, and to share the ways I see her growing. I left with a greater sense of appreciation for all they do and ideas for ways I could help Sophie continue to grow.
What if the same thing happened in our children and youth ministry programs? I found this article from the Fuller Youth Institute so interesting that I had to pass it along! Check it out, and post your thoughts below. Do you have a one-on-one time to talk with parents or caregivers? What might this look like in your church?
