One thing I’m learning about our current season of life is that less is more. Parents, volunteers, and church leaders are overwhelmed, each taking on new tasks and responsibilities as a part of our new way of life. As our Dwell team thought through resourcing Dwell churches for this fall, we knew it was important to keep things as simple as possible.

This important need is why I’m so excited to share our newest resource with you: A Guide for Adapting Any Dwell Session. This FREE resource will help you easily adapt any Dwell session to a simple outline that can be used in a variety of settings.

The outline includes just four easy steps: breathe, tell and wonder, pray, and respond. It provides a simple way for anyone to lead a Dwell session with little advanced preparation. Our hope is that this will be your guide to adapting Dwell to whatever situation your church is in this fall.

And if that weren’t exciting enough, we're also releasing Dwell Flex! This new edition of Dwell was built specifically for the challenges and changes many churches are facing right now. All 36 of these adapted New Testament sessions are available now, included at no extra cost to churches with a Dwell Digital subscription. These simple sessions can be used in a variety of settings with multiple ages. Check out a sample here or view all 36 sessions on Dwell Digital. More information about this exciting new resource can be found on the Dwell website.

Children’s ministry—whether in person or virtual—will look different this fall. As will kid’s school and home experiences. But God’s Big Story is unchanging, and these stories of God’s provision, love, and grace, are just as important in this season as any other. So we’ve continued the focus on God’s Big Story in these simplified sessions, engaging children’s imaginations and encouraging wonder as they enter the story.

Here’s how you might use simplified Dwell sessions:

  • to lead or record virtual Dwell sessions.
  • to lead an in-person Dwell session with a multi-age group of children.
  • to give a children’s message, whether virtual or in-person.
  • for parents to lead a simple session with their children at home.

Life can be complicated and, at times, stressful right now. Our hope is that these new resources will equip our leaders to continue sharing God’s Big Story with children stress-free!
