Are you looking for a resource to help children enter into the season of Lent and understand its significance?

The Broken Pot is a seven-week children’s message series written by Josh Sweetman, youth director at Maranatha CRC in Lethbridge, Alberta. These messages remind us of our brokenness and need for a Savior, using the metaphor of a broken clay pot. They’re based in Isaiah 30, where God confronts his people with their sin but still promises to send a Savior to redeem them.

You can find these children’s messages and much more in Faith Formation Ministries’ free online Children’s Ministry Toolkit, in the "Calling, Encouraging, and Equipping Leaders" panel, under the "Children's Messages" subheading.

Mimi Larson is the CRC's Children's Ministry Catalyzer. If you have questions or challenges about faith formation in children, choosing curriculum, equipping volunteers, and more, contact Mimi at [email protected].
