"I Remember Back in '73..."

Each one of us carries within our beings stories of who we are. These reflections take us back to a place and time where we often see God at work in moments of His love and grace.

“I remember back in 1973…” was a statement that electrified a group of youth workers who pondered the words as a reality that some could not imagine. “He’s been doing this for that long?”

A friend who left us not long ago had made this statement a few years ago sharing his stories of youth ministry that dated back before many of us were born.

So many of us had been impacted through the Spirit filled vessel named Jake Hiemstra who God took home not long ago. Christ used him for many faithful years to reach out in authentic community to youth and leaders alike, even as far back as ’73.

Someone has lovingly assembled this memory of Jake for all of us to soak in. Thank you God for allowing us to know this faithful servant for even a short time.
