Tapestry Mundy Park is a vibrant 6-year-old church, planted in the City of Coquitlam. We are a multi-ethnic, multi-generational church centred in Christ and living for the glory of God. We are a community woven in faith, inspired by hope and motivated by love.
Our Vision is to increase the flourishing of life as we live out the Gospel Story with courage, calling and conviction. We seek to be radically shaped by the grace of God so that we worship God wholeheartedly, love one another deeply, and care for our city generously. Come join the story that is Tapestry Mundy Park!
We are looking for a creative, community-minded person to bring strong leadership and administrative oversight to our growing children & youth ministries. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with our pastor and leadership team to implement our vision to “form ecosystems of learning and spiritual growth”. The position will coordinate all curriculum and programming needs related to the faith formation of children and youth.
If you love Christ, love the church and love seeing people of all ages and backgrounds grow in faith; please prayerfully consider joining our church as the Director of Children & Youth Ministry. Bring your ideas, passions, gifts and talents to our community and help us grow.
Areas of Responsibilities
The Director of Children & Youth Ministry will provide leadership, guidance, and oversight to all our Tap Kids and Tap Youth programs and initiatives with the goal of providing age-appropriate programming that encourages faith formation and Christ-centred discipleship in our children from birth to 17 years.
One key area of responsibility is recruiting, training, mentoring and discipling volunteers throughout the year as well as applying for the Canada Summer Jobs Program and managing the summer interns that are hired.
Working with a team of Tap Kids volunteers, the successful candidate will plan and coordinate weekly ministry (i.e. Sunday School, children’s sermons), special presentations (i.e. Christmas, Easter) and seasonal programs (i.e. Summer Day Camps, Vacation Bible School) so that children grow in their knowledge and love of God and parents are equipped to teach their children the way of Jesus.
Working with a team of Tap Youth volunteers, the successful candidate will plan and coordinate weekly youth gatherings (Grades 6-12) and seasonal programs (i.e. Spring Retreat, Summer Gleaners, Youth Alpha and other initiatives) to help foster a love for Christ and encourage spiritual growth and maturity in our youth.
Qualifications
Successful candidates will be reliable, self-motivated, and able to create, develop and implement effective ministry strategies for the overall spiritual growth of children, youth, families and church. They will have a sound understanding of the Bible and will be able to teach God’s Word in an engaging way.
Essential to this position is a passion to see children of all ages grow in their faith and the willingness to minister to children and youth from all backgrounds. Thus successful candidates will have strong interpersonal skills and are able to build relationships of trust with people from different backgrounds and generations. Cultural competency and strong leadership and administrative skills are an asset.
Additionally strong computer, administrative, organizational and communication skills are an asset as well as a proven track record in recruiting, training and building teams of teachers, leaders and volunteers.
Education and Experience
Successful candidates will have a compelling combination of education at the undergraduate or graduate level and experience working directly with children, youth, and families. Formal education from a Bible college or a theological seminary will be an asset, as well as other forms of faith-based leadership development programs. Outside of formal education, our matrix of selection is a combination of assessing character, competence and chemistry. First, we’re looking for people who are self-aware, humble, faithful, trustworthy and have a bias towards action. Second, we’re looking for people who can create content, communicate effectively, build systems and structures and lead groups of people. Third, we are looking for people who are collaborative and team-oriented and who can work adaptively in a work environment with continual adjusting priorities.
