There is no shortage of questions and discussions on The Network regarding church membership. However, I have seen very little discussion about the many different real-life situations that church members may experience.

For example, a member may face circumstances that create conflicts with his ministry calling or personal responsibilities, making it difficult for him to participate fully in the life of his home church. In such cases, there may be no evidence of a need for church discipline, nor any indication that the individual is failing to live consistently with the faith he professed many years ago.

During my online research, I have encountered the term inactive membership. I am interested in learning whether this designation has been used to address situations such as these and whether there are other examples or models that churches have found helpful.
