Along with being a grandfather, a father and a husband for 35 years, John Bouwers was once a mechanical engineer and a serial entrepreneur before becoming a pastor of an established church and finally a planter of a new one.
All of these diverse experiences come together in what John does with Resonate Global Mission today through the Church Planting Institute (CPI): growing a repository of knowledge, entrepreneurial creativity, and real world skills through a team of leaders who are working to see new communities of faith planted throughout Eastern Canada.
CPI is a collection of missionally-minded planters and leaders in Eastern Canada gathered around a common desire to answer this simple question: “What would it take to plant 3-5 churches a year in Canada East?”
Since its formation three years ago, CPI has been working to discover and develop a new generation of church planters, has been seeking out and testing means of assessment, training and coaching them, and all the while stirring the imagination for planting churches in every Classis across the region.
Finally, John also works as the Missions Catalyzer for Classis Toronto, the most densely-populated and fastest-growing area in Canada. But this shared call fits well with a focus to raise the profile of church planting for at least two significant reasons. First, church planting is proven to be the most effective means of bringing the gospel to Canadians. Second, church planting has become a transformative missional leaven among the established churches of Classis Toronto and all the churches of Canada East. John is excited to work with you!
