As a former teacher, I know that children are a wealth of knowledge. I learned something every day through the eyes of a child and still cherish it all.

Now, as a children’s pastor, the learning continues. Children both amaze and inspire me to be a better person. As I see Christ in them, I know God has placed them in my ministry not only to learn as students, but to teach as well.

A child with autism in our ministry breathes fresh air into everything he does. Although sometimes things are difficult and we have to work through “stuff,” he continues to be a beacon of light to many people just by being himself! He is who he is, makes no excuses, and respectfully loves unconditionally. We can learn from all of these traits! Since God created you a certain way, embrace it. Don’t make excuses, love others for who they are, and don’t try to change them.

Serving as a children’s advocate and learning from them is an honor and a blessing, not a job. I want them to be successful in everything they do.
