The national attention on the suicide of Rick and Kay Warren's son, Matthew, brought mental health issues into the spotlight for Christians. Saddleback Church, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange, and the National Alliance on Mental Illness of Orange County teamed up for a conference on March 28, 2014. They capped attendance at 3200 people, and both livestreamed and recorded the plenary sessions and workshops. Speakers include Rick and Kay Warren, Bishop Kevin Vann, Amy Simpson, John Townsend, and many others. Two of the sessions are in Spanish. All sessions can be viewed for free. The five plenary sessions addressed the following:

  • The Role of the Church in Mental Health
  • Integrating Physical, Spiritual Health, and Mental Health
  • Helping the Helpers: Crisis Management for Church Staff
  • Resourcing the Church
  • Standing Together In Suffering

Workshops include sessions on depression, addiction, Celebrate Recovery, launching a support group, suicide prevention, the role of the church in recovery, women's mental health, "Abogando por Personas que tienen un Diagnostico de Salud Mental," y "El Papel de la Iglesia sobre la Salud Mental."
